Artificial Intelligence
To enrich the gameplay experience and help players when they are stuck, Play Guess and Reveal includes a hint generation system powered by Artificial Intelligence (notably Apple Intelligence, depending on your device's compatibility).
These "Smart Hints" let the Host provide subtle, contextual hints without giving away the answer directly.
How does the AI work?
When a Host uses the hint generation feature, the app sends the metadata of the current song (title, artist, album, year, genre) to the Artificial Intelligence. It then writes an original sentence or description to guide the players.
Safe generation
To ensure the answer is not given away by mistake, the AI follows strict guidelines (restrictions):
- It never directly states the expected answer (the exact word).
- It avoids using keywords of 4 letters or more that appear in the answer.
- It rephrases the idea or evokes the cultural, historical or thematic context of the track or the artist.
Types of smart hints (Smart Hints)
The Host can generate hints for the different categories of the current track:
Hint about the Title
This is the default hint type. The AI uses the song title, the artist's name, as well as the genre or year (if available) to create a thematic description of the track. The hint may evoke what the song is about, the mood it conveys, or the story behind its creation.
Hint about the Artist
The AI generates a description of the artist to guess. It can mention their country of origin, their distinctive musical style, anecdotes about their career or instruments they favor, without mentioning their name or the title of the current song.
Hint about the Album
To help guess an album, the AI gives contextual information about the album's creation or the world it conveys. It has strict instructions never to state the album name, the title of the current track, or the artist.
Hint about the Year
The generated hint will evoke historical or cultural events, or other notable music releases from that same year. The AI is strictly forbidden from stating the year (neither in figures nor in words), the title or the artist.
Additional features: Similar Artists
In addition to text hints, the Artificial Intelligence is able to analyze the artist currently playing to instantly generate a list of three similar artists or bands. This can be useful for the Host to give players stylistic references ("This is an artist in the same style as...").
Fallback system (Fallback)
If the Artificial Intelligence is not available on your device (for example, if Apple Intelligence is not supported or enabled), or if it fails to generate a valid response within a given time, the app automatically falls back to a local backup system.
This backup system generates a classic Hangman. It reveals about 20% of the letters of the word to guess and hides the others with dashes, while keeping the spaces, so that players always receive a visual aid.
