Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight

Three things work without opening the app, as soon as it is installed — nothing to set up.

Ask Siri

  • "What expires soon in TrackInvent?" — Siri reads what the Alerts tab shows in red and orange: "4 items to watch: Lettuce (expires tomorrow), Ham ×2 (expires in 2 days)…". All sessions, most urgent first; beyond five, "and N more".
  • "Use the milk in TrackInvent" — one unit less, taken from the batch that expires soonest, like the "Used" swipe. Siri answers with what is left. Without the product's name, Siri asks for it.
  • "Add 2 milks in TrackInvent" — undated units, put in the location of that product's latest batch (or the first of its session). To choose the location, add it: "… to the Fridge". The product must exist; for a new product, use the app or the scanner.

Siri tells two products with the same name apart by their session, when you have several. The phrases follow the phone's language.

In the Shortcuts app

The three actions — Expiring Soon, Use, Add to Stock — are under Shortcuts › Apps › TrackInvent, ready for a shortcut or an automation: "every evening at 7 pm, tell me what expires", for instance.

Spotlight

Your products are in the iPhone's search: pull the Home Screen down, type "ham", tap the result — the product sheet opens, in the right session. The result shows the quantity and location; the category and session help find it too.

What stays on the device

The Spotlight index and the shortcuts never leave the phone. What you say to Siri is processed by Apple, as for any app — see the privacy policy.
